Spring #1 redevelopment project
The HOA received good news on the redevelopment of spring #1 (it's the spring just east of the pump house by the lower water tank.) In October, the Board approved a motion to have spring #1 redeveloped - it has been 12 years since the spring was developed, and flow from this spring has slowed to about 2.7 gallons per minute, due to the collection piping getting clogged up with roots. As excavation commenced, and the pipes were uncovered, a great deal of "organic matter" was removed (here's our President with a sample.) Flow immediately improved to 5 gallons per minute - but wait, there's more. Continuing the excavation found piping going to another spring - unclogging it's piping netted an additional 10 gallons per minute, which is very good news. The redevelopment of springs 1A and 1B has stalled for the moment due to all the snow, but soon will be finished, and output from these springs will have increased more than five fold.
